DESCRIPTION:Logistics\nThe training is held at Terre Madre Retreat. Lunch is provided.\nPayment plans and scholarship opportunities are available. \nTraining Description\nFocusing-Oriented psychotherapy uses the pathway of connection with the body to address psychological issues. This training provides participants with a basic skill set to bring a somatic focus to their therapy sessions\, along with introductory knowledge of Focusing as a therapeutic approach. Participants will explore experiential practice of Focusing and create a Focusing-Oriented treatment plan for a client\, as well as study the history and theory underlying the practice and the research done on this somatic approach in psychotherapy. \nCourse Learning Outcomes\n\nDefine Focusing-Oriented concepts\, including embodiment\, felt sense\, and interoceptive awareness.\nApply Focusing as a technique to use with clients.\nDescribe Focusing-Oriented psychotherapy as an approach and how it integrates with other modalities.\nFormulate a treatment plan incorporating a Focusing-Oriented approach for a client.\n\nTrainer Biography\nAngie Hensley\, PhD\, LMFT\, is a licensed marriage and family therapist in California and Tennessee\, specializing in somatic and eco-approaches to psychotherapy\, clinical supervision\, pedagogy\, research\, community building\, and social change. Dr. Hensley lives at Terre Madre Retreat\, on the original homelands of the ᏣᎳᎫᏪᏘᏱ Tsalaguwetiyi (Cherokee\, East) people\, stewarding 20 acres of land and hosting circles\, workshops\, and retreats. She believes in the power of circle-based\, participatory\, and empowered learning spaces and teaches in theMind-Body Medicine PhD program at Saybrook University.
